Nice photo's. Further encouragement that I should get up early and see what Shawmut's about tomorrow. Anyone gonna be there in the early morning? I have to get to Norridgewock by 9:30, but that still leaves time to fish first.

I saw a few rather large BWO's coming off yesterday. They appeared to be around a size 14 with red eyes. There were some surprisingly large fish rising yesterday but they appeared to be taking nymphs coming to the surface and not duns. We couldn't catch any of the large fish but did have some pretty steady action landing maybe 9 or 10 smaller rainbows and browns on nymphs and streamers. It was a great day to be out. Did the action pick up in the evening? I only fished until about 2:00.

Hey Marshall nice picture! I think I'll be tying some up pretty soon. Do those suspend under the surface or does it sink?

I gave it a try for two hours this morning. No luck. Saw a few mayflies coming off with though. Looking good, maybe I'll give it a try again tomorrow night.

Derek,
Yes, they suspend because the shuck often gets stuck trailing as it emerges and this makes the mayfly vulnerable. Try adding a shuck to your emergers-drys. I use some trilobal antron in olive-tan tied in at the tail, maybe a third the length of the shank, trailing. Cripples tied with a bent hook and one wing will sometimes work wonders on selective trout too. tight lines.
