| Got to the river at about 1:30. Fish were rising for about an hour in the Pasture pool, but they were infrequent and on the move, which made it difficult to get then to take. Had one take on a 24 Canyon Bunny, and that was it. Switched to a Bead Head Olive bugger, and my buddy and I landed 7 fish over the next two hours(6 Browns and 1 Rainbow that went about 17'), with plenty more bumps. Damn good fishing for Novmeber 18th. Cold feet though with water temps at about 38.5 degrees(thanks to Mikes to temp gadget - sure is slick Mike!) Get out there if you can. |

Kim,
They were hitting the buggers hard. I was getting bumped every three or four casts for about an hour. I started with black, had no luck, then switched over to olive. Olive was the color. Every fish was taken on the olive. I was fihsing a bead head olive, with Grizly hackle and a long marabou tail that I tied up, and my buddy was using a cone head olive we got at Mikes shop. Both worked well. Get out if you can!

Seems like overcast skies and air temps over 45-50 are the key for rising fish in November.
Now if I only had a rod......

Ian, I will bring an extra rod 5/6 wt (not as pretty as an Orvis but a rod) I will be at Shawmut at about 1.00pm. on Sat. You are more than welcome to use the rod. Let me know if you are going to fish so that I will wait at the parking lot for 5 minutes only!

What a generous guy that kimL is...
And, Ian, don't worry about the time. As much as he claims to be young and spry, it takes him more than 5 minutes just to get his waders on.
