I am going to St. Maarten in late February. Staying at Grand Case Beach Club. Anyone familiar out there with throwing any flies around in that area? I am hoping to go deep sea one day but have not seen much about flats fishing or fly rodding down there.
Do you know of any guides? Booking with them directly is usually about 1/2 the price of booking through the resorts.
Hope to hear from some people. Thanks
Matt

I don’t know if this will help, but there are certainly guys on these boards who have fished those waters.

Have never been to St. Maarten, but I did see some bones on St. John and managed one. Check out flyfishingforum.com also- a just put in "St. Maarten" as a search and you'll get lots of info. I also recall that Flyfishing in Saltwaters had an article a couple three years ago which included St. Maarten. Bring an 8 wt and some clousers. In St. John, I caught snook, jacks, cero mackeral (like a Bonita), small 'cudas, snapper and waved at Tarpon. Definitely worth bringing the rod.
