I have empathy for you. I don't drink beer (can I still be called a fly fisherman?) so I don't have the same problem, but my wife has seen "Fly Fishing Only" show up so many times on my VISA statement that she has started to question whether or not it is one of those "male entertainment establishments." I keep protesting and telling her, "not in Fairfield, Maine."
Thanks for your efforts (and contributions) in pushing this over the top.

Thank you for all who have donated to the ME TU Trout Camp!
This large donation is great news as the MTUTC is a dynamic program for 12 lucky students who are selected by their written essay and letter of recommendation from a teacher.
The tuition is $275 per student but the actual cost for the ME TU Council is over $1000 per student.
Food and lodging for the students and staff for the week, the 15 passenger rental van, camp insurance, MTUTC hats, t-shirts, posters, brochures, and miscellaneous items are the yearly expenses.
I would have enjoyed competing in the fly casting contest the past 2 years but I have had a major conflict both years with salmon fishing at the Margaree River (2006) and the North Atlantic Blues Festival(2007)
Maybe next year I will participate.
Thanks again for your donation!
Greg Ponte Executive Director MTUTC

Greg, Thanks for all your work. I appreciate what you do and are very happy to help as are all the others who donated. Russ
PS: Now, can you put me on any secret hot brookie spots in two weeks when I get to Maine? Just give me the coordinates, fly to use and exact time of day the hatches occur? Tight lines and keep up the good work. Russ |

Neal, I know exactly what you mean. Here the statement shows as "The Angler's Lie". I may be able to claim them as a dependent this year on my 1040. I go in for one or two little things that I need for a specific pattern and before I regain consciousness, I've spent beaucoup bucks.
Yes, even if you don't drink beer you can be called a flyfisherman...just buy the beer for the other guys and all will be forgiven. |
